30 countries. One refused to join. That refusal changed everything.
This world is split into 30 countries — each with its own politicians and military machinery. Of the 30, twenty-nine agreed to unite and form the United Nations. One country refused. Not because it was unwilling to comply — but because it was too powerful to be allowed in.
That country is Aria. And the source of its power is something no history book has ever accurately described.
The birthplace of the first Fraze user over 1,000 years ago. Aria operates outside the United Nations by choice — or rather, by exclusion. Its power is not nuclear, not military. It is something older and stranger: the ability to speak power into being.
Aria is home to the Don — a figure more powerful than any elected leader. The position has been held by 33 people across a millennium. Its capital houses the Parliament building, a heavily guarded seat of government that doubles as the Don's headquarters.

A United Nations member state that borders Aria. Emberstan was co-founded by the 18th Don, Victor Von Pelt, who left Aria in the 1530s to travel and discover new land. His legacy is enshrined in the country's national identity — his autobiography is a bestseller.
Emberstan is home to Berry Town, the starting point of the entire story. It is a lively, working-class community where the Kurosawa twins grew up as orphans.

A neighbourhood in Emberstan — lively, tight-knit, and largely ordinary. Everyone seems to know everyone, from old grandma GiGi to the kids on the sidewalk waiting for their football back. It is the kind of place where the arrival of the world's most powerful man goes completely unannounced.
Berry Town is home to Triple Bite, the restaurant famous enough to lure the 33rd Don across the border on a cross-country trip. It is also where the Kurosawa twins were raised, and where Fraze awakenings are beginning to appear for the first time.

A region that lies between Emberstan and Aria along the above-ground route. Shin refuses to travel through it, describing its inhabitants as "religious freaks." The safer — and preferred — route between the two nations runs underground via the Arian bullet train from Emberstan Central.

Frazes are innate abilities, unique to each user. Every Fraze is rooted in a common saying — the stronger the user, the further it evolves.
The first Fraze user appeared in Aria over 1,000 years ago in 1026 AD — the first Don. His power was so immense that the newly-formed United Nations refused Aria membership outright. The history books lied about why. They called it a political dispute. It wasn't.
A Fraze is tied to a famous phrase or common saying. The ability mirrors the meaning of the phrase — sometimes literally, sometimes symbolically. "Actions speak louder than words" silences abilities. "Time waits for no one" bends time. "Sharing is Caring" gives power to others.
Most Frazes lie dormant and never activate. They can be awakened externally — as Noctis Vale's ability allows him to grant Frazes to compatible recipients. They can also awaken spontaneously under extreme emotional stress, as seen with Silver's awakening in Berry Town.
Elite fighters trained by the Don's inner circle to weaponize their Frazes with surgical precision. Where most Fraze users stumble through raw power, Orators refine it. They are the enforcement arm of Aria's hidden hierarchy — and the greatest obstacle standing between the twins and the Don.
Not everyone can receive a granted Fraze. Noctis Vale's ability is rejected by some bodies entirely — as Shin discovered firsthand. What determines compatibility is not yet fully understood, even by the Don himself. It may have something to do with the dormant phrase already residing within the person.
Frazes define status, wealth, and survival in this world. The rarer and more powerful the Fraze, the higher one climbs in society. At the very top sits the Don — the only person in recorded history whose Fraze has reached full evolution. Nobody knows what full evolution actually looks like.
The Don is similar in title to a prime minister — but comparable to none in power. The position has existed for over 1,000 years, passing through 33 successors. It is not elected. It is not inherited. It is earned through a Fraze so overwhelming that no one can challenge it.
The Don of Aria commands the loyalty of syndicates, enforcer networks, and the Orators. Politically, they hold influence beyond the borders of Aria itself — even across United Nations states. Noctis Vale, the 33rd Don, is widely regarded as the most charismatic and beloved figure to ever hold the position.
Every location, faction, and Fraze is waiting for you in the full story.
